This Privacy Policy explains how Pixolve handles information when you use this website.

1. Information We Collect

Pixolve does not require user accounts and does not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or contact details. We collect a small amount of data in two categories:

  • Leaderboard data:when you finish a puzzle, your browser generates a random anonymous identifier and sends it along with the puzzle's id and your solve time so we can compute your rank.
  • Analytics data: we use Google Analytics to measure traffic, including page views, session counts, approximate location, browser and device information, referring pages, and interaction events.

2. Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies

Google Analytics commonly uses first-party cookies and similar storage technologies to distinguish unique users and sessions (for example, cookies like _ga and _ga_<container-id>). These identifiers are pseudonymous and are used for measurement and reporting.

Pixolve also uses your browser's local storage to support the leaderboard feature. We store an anonymous identifier (a random UUID) that ties your submissions to a single leaderboard entry per puzzle, and a per-puzzle cache of your solve time and most recent rank so the page can show your result when you return. This data stays on your device until you clear your browser's site data.

Pixolve does not use cookies for user accounts or authentication. If your browser blocks analytics storage, Analytics may not store certain identifiers.

3. How Information Is Used

Leaderboard data is used to compute your rank or percentile against other solvers for a given puzzle, and to enforce a single submission per browser per puzzle. Analytics data is used to:

  • Understand site traffic trends.
  • Improve site reliability and puzzle experience.
  • Diagnose technical issues.

4. Third-Party Processing

We use Google Analytics to measure site usage. Google may process usage information under its own privacy terms and Analytics documentation. You can review:

Leaderboard data is stored in a Redis database hosted by Upstash and provisioned through Vercel. Upstash processes only the anonymous identifier, puzzle id, and solve time described above. You can review their privacy practices on the Upstash Privacy Policy.

5. Your Choices

You can limit analytics collection by:

Clearing your browser's site data removes the anonymous leaderboard identifier and any cached solve results stored on your device. If you would like leaderboard entries previously submitted under your identifier removed from our server, contact us at the address below.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share limited usage data with service providers that help operate and measure the site (Google Analytics for traffic measurement and Upstash for leaderboard storage). No leaderboard data is shared with third parties beyond what is needed to operate the leaderboard itself.

7. International Visitors and Consent

Depending on your region, analytics storage may require consent. Where required by law, you should provide consent before non-essential analytics technologies are used.

8. Data Retention

Analytics data is retained according to the Google Analytics retention settings configured for this property. Leaderboard entries are retained indefinitely so historical puzzles continue to have rankings available. You can request removal of entries tied to your identifier by contacting us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
